It's time to enter the Rogue Homebrew IPA Competition!

San Francisco Bay Area homebrewers, clubs and guilds are invited to submit their homebrewed IPAs by Saturday, April 29. The top three beers will be poured on draft at the Rogue Ales Public House in North Beach for the public to vote for a champion.

The top three finishers will selected by an expert panel of judges, including Rogue brewer Michael King, Toronado's Dave Keene, Sam Molmud from Liquid Bread and Onur 'Oz' Ozkaynak from Oz Restaurant and Bar Group.

After the public votes, the overall competition winner will be announced October 7 and earn the right to brew once a month on the pub's brand new nano system.

2017 San Francisco Pub Homebrew Competition Rules

1. The Rogue San Francisco Pub homebrew competition open to all Bay Area homebrewing clubs and guilds.

2. An entry is a set of two (2) bottles from a single batch of beer. The bottles must be made of clear, green or brown glass, and be free from labels, excessive dirt and identifying marks. All bottles must be filled within an inch and a half of the top, and be capped with a metal crown cap. The caps must be plain colored, or be completely blacked out with a black permanent marker. Swing-type caps are not permitted. An entry that excessively gushes from more than one bottle may be disqualified at the judges' discretion.

3. An entrant is the one or more people submitting an entry as a homebrewers club.  Member(s) of an entrant must have actively contributed to brewing, fermenting, and bottling an entry.  Every member must be at least 21 years of age.

4. Only entries that fall under India Pale Ale category will be Judged.

5. No member of an entrant may submit another entry of the same subcategory, whether as an individual entrant, a member of the same entrant, or a member of another entrant.

6. Every entry must be submitted with a bottle identification label attached to each bottle

7. A panel of at least two judges will judge each entry according to the style.

8. Entries will be accepted at the drop off sites from April 5th and April 25th.

9. All entries become the property of the Rogue North Beach Public House and will not be returned. Any questions or disputes will be settled by the competition organizers, and all decisions are final.

10. The homebrew competition will only name first, second and third place on April 29th.

11. The three placing clubs will get one summer month (June, July, or August) in order to brew one beer of their choosing at the North Beach Public House.

12. The resulting beer will be on Tap at the North Beach Public House the following Month and will be property of North Beach Public House.

13. First place will choose their month to brew first, and second place will choose their month next.

14. Beers will be judged by customers at the North Beach Public House when customers purchase the beer.

15. Winner will be announced October 7th at the North Beach Public.

16. Winner will have access to North Beach Public House’s Nano System until following May 2018, all materials needed for brewing will be provided by Rogue Ales.

17. For 3 winning teams Rogue Ales will provide supplies needed for brewing, with all resulting product being put on Tap at North Beach Public House, with profits going back to North Beach Public House (in order to provide more brewing materials).
